Penn State’s recruiting losses continue piling up.

Four-star class of 2026 cornerback David Davis officially flipped his commitment from Penn State to North Carolina on Thursday morning. Davis hadn’t previously decommitted but had reopened his recruitment following James Franklin’s firing.

Davis becomes the third player to announce a new destination this week after former Nittany Lion commits Isaac Chukwura and Jack Fuchs flipped to Miami and Northwestern, respectively.

A Pittsburgh native, Davis ranks as the No. 11 recruit from Pennsylvania, No. 26 athlete and No. 382 overall player in the cycle. He took a visit to North Carolina last week before making the move.

Penn State’s 2026 group is down to 13 members and ranks No. 38 nationally, continuing a massive slide following Franklin’s departure, with more decommitments likely to follow.
